JUNIOR SCHOOL CURRICULUM
Reception to Year 5
At King’s, conventional and up-to-date methods are used when planning and implementing curriculum. Staff undergo specific training in essential areas such as literacy and numeracy. Best teaching methodology is offered in other key learning areas throughout the Junior School.
The Junior School provides all students with exceptional programs in literacy and numeracy. Students experience explicit teaching of reading, writing, spelling and oral language on a regular basis. Students learn to construct meaning from mathematical concepts through real life experiences. A whole Junior School approach in teaching mathematical concepts is the key to student’s ongoing success in numeracy at King’s.
The achievements of the early years are extended through the Primary years and beyond. All students are catered for through a differentiated curriculum which provides access to knowledge from a wide range of learning needs.
From Reception the following experiences are offered to all students:
The following subjects are taught by specialist teachers to all Reception to Year 5 students: Visual Arts, Music, Computer, Physical Education, German and Library (Resource Based Learning).
